EVML joins a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network
Lusófona University and CICANT are pleased to announce their participation in the successful proposal for the 2024 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks (MSCA DN) call led by the University of Bourgogne. This prestigious European initiative promotes interdisciplinary doctoral training and international collaboration among top research institutions.
Early Visual Media Lab will contribute to DECADOCS, a pioneering research and training program aimed at reinterpreting decadence. Traditionally linked to decay, decadence will be explored through new perspectives focusing on sustainability, transnationalism, and sensoriality. DECADOCS seeks to deepen our understanding of contemporary artistic, media, entertainment, and sociocultural practices by examining the evolution of decadence across European societies since the 19th century.
DECADOCS is the first doctoral network dedicated to decadence studies, covering underexplored areas like architecture, fashion, food, tourism, and immersive media. The program offers tailored intersectoral training with museums, archives, galleries, and other partners, enhancing its scientific and societal impact.
The network brings together scholars from 10 leading universities: University of Bourgogne, IUAV University, Goldsmiths University, University of Glasgow, University of Galway, Johannes Gutenberg University, Lusófona University, University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, Polytechnic University of Madrid, and University of Hertfordshire. With 17 Associated Partners, the project creates an international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral consortium.
Victor Flores will supervise the project “Decadence and Haptic Virtual Reality: Testing Visual and Audio Stereoscopic Compositions,” which examines the contribution of visual haptics and acoustic haptics to improve the user’s performance and perception in Virtual Reality.
This Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network underscores Lusófona University’s and EVML’s commitment to advancing research and international cooperation. All DECADOCS training events will be open to doctoral candidates from the consortium’s universities.
