IJSIM’s Vol. 9 No.2 is out!

The editorial board of the International Journal of Stereo & Immersive Media is pleased to announce the publication of Volume 9, Issue No. 2.

This issue opens with an invited article dedicated to the panorama as both a media art form and a documentary heritage of global significance. The article presents the core arguments for the inclusion of panoramas in a joint application to the UNESCO Memory of the World (MoW) Register. Authored by the MoW Scientific Committee of the International Panorama Council, it also provides a comprehensive inventory of preserved panoramas worldwide.

In addition, the issue features five peer-reviewed articles exploring a broad spectrum of immersive media topics, ranging from the kaleidoscope and Robertson’s Phantasmagoria to contemporary stereoscopic 3D film production:

PEEPING INTO ABSTRACT WORLDS: TRACING THE KALEIDOSCOPE FROM OPTICAL INSTRUMENT TO IMMERSIVE AND THERAPEUTIC MEDIA
Anna Ter-Gabrielyan

SPECTRES OF PHANTASMAGORIA: RECREATION AND ANALYSIS OF THE SOUNDSCAPE OF ROBERTSON’S SPECTACLE

The cover features an illustration of Félix Philippoteaux’s panorama Défense de Paris, Champs-Élysées, Paris, during its execution on 2 November 1872.
