The Early Visual Media Lab (EVML) and CICANT are pleased to welcome John Plunkett, who will be visiting Lusófona University from 26 to 30 October 2026.

John Plunkett researches nineteenth-century visual media at the University of Exeter, with a particular interest in stereoscopy, panoramas, dioramas, peepshows, and the magic lantern. His research explores the connections between Victorian media technologies and contemporary digital and immersive experiences.

During his visit, Plunkett will deliver the keynote ‘Old Media’ in Contemporary Media Arts at PhD Talks 2026 and take part in a CICANT Research Encounters session on Global Versions of the Peep Show and the Long History of Mobile Media.
